Funding Heatmap

Loading preview...

Real-time funding rates across major perpetual futures exchanges displayed as a color-coded heatmap.

Use this module to identify market positioning and potential squeeze opportunities when funding becomes extremely positive or negative. The colors are based on the funding rate required to keep your position open. The higher in the positives the funding rate, the more people are net long the asset, and the more expensive it is to hold a long position. If the funding rate is in the negative the reverse is true and it costs money to hold a short position.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are crypto funding rates?

Funding rates are periodic payments between long and short traders on perpetual futures exchanges. Positive rates mean longs pay shorts (bullish positioning), while negative rates mean shorts pay longs (bearish positioning).

How do I read the funding heatmap?

The heatmap uses colours to show funding rates across multiple exchanges and cryptocurrencies. Green indicates negative funding (more shorts), while red indicates positive funding (more longs). Extreme colours can signal potential liquidation events.

Why do funding rates matter?

Extreme funding rates often precede liquidation cascades. When funding is extremely positive, a price drop can trigger long liquidations. When extremely negative, a price spike can trigger short squeezes.
